World deep web – Hemant Mallapur talks about White Space technology from Saankhya Labs

While the world wide web reaches large parts of the world today, what is lacking is the penetration of internet in rural areas. At TEDxXIMB, Hemant Mallapur talks about how White Space technology from Saankhya Labs will help create a World-Deep-Web that takes internet to the 3 Billion people who don’t have it yet.

Hemant is a Co-founder and Vice President of Engineering at Saankhya Labs – an innovative Indian startup developing its own semiconductor chipsets, wireless and satcom communication equipment. It is a privately-held fabless semiconductor company funded by Intel Capital and holds 19 key patents in the US for its Software Defined Radio technology. Hemant has managed the development of World’s first TV White Space rural broadband products called Meghdoot Base-station and Dhaval Modem built using Saankhya’s own Pruthvi chipset.

He has over 23 years of industry experience in semiconductor & electronics product development. Earlier he was one of the early members of Sage Inc which went public on NASDAQ in 1999. Prior to this he worked at Synopsys on chip implementation methodologies and at Paxonet on PC and Graphics chipsets. Hemant was featured in the EDN ASIA Magazine as an Innovator in the year 2000. He holds 4 US patents and has co-authored 3 papers in international conferences.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
